露西：近來新光金與台新金的合併案引起眾多討論。你覺得新光金與台新金會合併成「台新新光金控」嗎？

Ben: It seems there might be some uncertainty, as CTBC Financial Holdings is also interested in acquiring Shin Kong Financial Holdings.
班：似乎有可能出現變數，因為中信金也想併購新光金。

Lucy: What? Could you elaborate?
露西：什麼？你可以說詳細一點嗎？

Ben: After the merger between Shin Kong Financial and Taishin Financial was announced, CTBC Financial submitted a proposal to the Financial Supervisory Commission to invest in Shin Kong Financial. CTBC Financial has decided to invest NT$131.4 billion to initiate a hostile takeover, aiming to acquire 51% of Shin Kong Financial’s shares.
班：在新光金與台新金宣布合併後，中信金向金管會遞交投資新光金控股權計畫書。中信金決定斥資新台幣1314億元，啟動非合意公開併購，目標收購新光金51%股權。

Lucy: What would be the impact of a merger between Shin Kong Financial and Taishin Financial versus a merger between Shin Kong Financial and CTBC Financial?
露西：新光金與台新金、中信金合併，分別有什麼影響呢？

Ben: If Shin Kong Financial and Taishin Financial merge, “Taishin Shin Kong Financial Holdings” would become the fourth-largest financial holding company in Taiwan by total assets. If CTBC Financial merges with Shin Kong Financial, their combined total assets would reach NT$13.5 trillion, making them the largest financial holding company in Taiwan.
班：如果新光金與台新金合併，「台新新光金控」總資產將名列國內第4大金控。如果中信金與新光金合併，總資產將達新台幣13.5兆元，成為台灣最大金控。
