Ben： Have you heard about the mass recall movement happening in Taiwan?

Lucy：Yeah, several legislators have become targets of recall. It’s all over the news.
露西：有啊，好幾位立法委員成為罷免目標。新聞都在報導。

Ben：Because KMT and TPP legislators significantly cut the central government’s budget, hindering policy implementation, some civic groups and the DPP’s legislative caucus leader called for a “mass recall,” sparking follow-up actions.
班：因為國民黨和民眾黨立委大幅刪減中央政府預算，導致政府政策推動受阻，部分公民團體與民進黨立院黨團總召因此喊出「大罷免」，引發後續行動。

Lucy： I heard initiating a recall requires meeting a certain threshold, right?
露西：我聽說發起罷免還要先達到一個門檻對吧？

Ben： Yes, the threshold varies depending on the number of voters in each constituency. But in many areas, the first stage goal was achieved quickly, and now they’re moving into the second stage of petitioning.
班：對，門檻根據選區人數的不同而有所不同，不過許多地方短時間內就達成了第一階段的目標，正在進行第二階的連署。

Lucy：Some people feel this could further polarize politics, but others say it’s just citizens exercising their rights.

立法委員、直轄市議員、直轄市長、縣（市）長之罷免為60天。
