美國總統川普在接受美國媒體採訪時表示，台積電將會在美國亞利桑那州投資3,000億美元設置晶片和半導體工廠，消息一傳出便馬上引發熱議。然而針對這個消息，當新聞記者向經濟部長做出提問時，經濟部長卻以「假消息」做回應；事後經濟部也火速發聲明致歉，稱當時當時部長尚未完整掌握相關資訊，並表示實際投資規劃仍需由該企業來對外說明。
