在開始準備托福考試之前，除了須思考抉擇要英文補習或自學之外，最重要的就是「安排讀書計畫」。托福和雅思一樣皆為留學考試，考試的項目分為聽、說、讀、寫四大項，想申請到不錯的學校，原則上每一項都要拿到一定的分數，所以英文能力的整體提升就非常的重要，是無法用投機的方式取巧得到高分喔！
這邊幫準備托福考試的同學規劃的托福讀書計畫為 6 個月的準備時間，時間太長會疲乏，畢竟是高壓的考試準備，時間太短也無法有效的達到成效，除非是程度已經很好只須了解出題脈絡和題型的學生只需單純練習做題，就不需要準備到半年的時間。還在打基礎的同學，趕緊跟著我們的腳步開始戰勝托福吧！
養精蓄銳期（第 1 個月）
在開始進入托福的世界前，請先準備一份托福模擬考題，試作一次，菁英的學員可以使用線上托福模考系統，和正式考一樣的流程和時間計算，或是也可以土法煉鋼自己買一本托福官方教材 OG（The Official Guide to the TOEFL Test）來自行計時練習，重點是了解自己的分數程度大概在哪裡。
「增加英文實力」是這一個月的重點目標，分別從聽、說、讀、寫去規劃：
聽力
【333原則】每天 3 篇，每篇 3 遍，持續 30 天
每天至少聽 3 篇 TED 或 CNN News，每篇聽 3 遍。
- 第一遍：不中斷聽完，大概了解文意。
- 第二遍：準備一本筆記本，把全部內容「聽寫」下來，不會的生字查字典，將整篇聽稿讀懂消化一下。
- 第三遍：不要看筆記再聽一次，遇到聽不懂的地方可翻一下筆記，直到整篇聽懂為止。
閱讀
每日讀2篇英文新聞文章，文章可從 The New York Times、CNN News、BBC News、NPR 中挑選。也可以看英文雜誌如 The Economist（經濟學人）或 Scientific American。
口說
每天唸 3 篇長篇英文文章，訓練發音還有語順，把英文口說基本的連接詞、形容詞、副詞、慣用語使用的邏輯模式學起來（例如數字的唸法），目標是模仿並學習優良的範文，將其中精華內化為自己口說作答能侃侃而談的內容。
寫作
「練習英打速度」是這個月的首要任務。訓練自己可以在 30 分鐘內打完 1000 個字（托福正式考的整合寫作 20 分鐘大約寫 200 字以上；獨立寫作 30 分鐘寫 300 字以上）。
重點深入期（第 2 到 5 個月）
這 4 個月，每個禮拜的進度為：每 5 天做一回TPO（含檢討與複習），每週 1 回，休息 2 天（適度的休息也是很重要）。TPO 為 TOEFL Practice Online 的縮寫，同學們可以到 ETS 官網購買https://toeflpractice.ets.org/ 每回為 45.95 美元。
好處是會有官方的批改分數，但價格不菲，一套價格約台幣 $1380，30 套練習下來大概要四萬多囉，但菁英的學生就相對輕鬆，課程都有含實體和免費的線上 TPO 訓練，可以大大省荷包。
★此階段性目標為 4 個月內完成 30 回 TPO。
這段時間還是要持續培養英文能力，英聽和閱讀的訓練還是不能少，可是量可以降低，比如說新聞英文聽力和文章閱讀改為每天一篇，重點在持續並不間斷的訓練。
聽力
訓練能力：判斷考點，聽出值得作筆記的重點。
◆「開門見山說出主旨」: ex. 教授說：我們今天要討論的是…… →要非常專心聽並且將主旨（main idea）抄下來。
◆ 引言（進入主題前的鋪陳）→聽過就好不用筆記
◆ 主題論述→這是重點，要仔細聽但不是一字一句的抄寫，通常考點會是教授對於某專有名詞的解釋，以及舉例說明等等，還有教授和學生的問答。
閱讀
訓練能力：略讀 Skim，跳過副詞、關代、介係詞片語，只看主詞和動詞。
◆ 我們再複習一下什麼是 Skim 略讀：
Skim 指的是當題目問「某一段的大意」時，快速略讀（瀏覽）該段並了解其大意。所謂快速略讀（瀏覽）的方式為跳過細節（如修飾語、地方、時間等等），只讀句子的主詞+動詞+受詞（S.+V.+O.）。快速瀏覽句與句之間的關係、上下文、前因後果等。
舉例說明：
2018.01.27 TPO 47
原文：Termites, social insects which live in colonies that, in some species, contain 2 million individuals or more, are often incorrectly referred to as white ants. But they are certainly not ants. Termites, unlike ants, have gradual metarnorphosis with only three life stage: egg, nymph, and adult.
略讀：Termites, are often incorrectly referred to as white ants. But they are not ants. Termites, have three life stage: egg, nymph, and adult.
★有發現嗎？即便不知道 metarnorphosis 是什麼意思也沒關係，完全不影響文意。所以千萬不要被專有名詞嚇到，找出主詞動詞才是最重要的。
口說
訓練能力：多背同義詞，口說時可以抽換運用，並善用語助詞來維持不中斷。
寫作
訓練能力：同口說，多背同義詞。
把作文打在記事本上，全部寫完再貼到 Word 自動校對。並且計時一定要在 25 鐘內寫完，留 5 分鐘檢查。
全力衝刺期（第 6 個月）
◆ 這時期為最後衝刺期，一天一回 TPO，一個禮拜 6 篇，休息一天，這樣應該可以完成 24 回 TPO。
◆ 設定時間在上午作答，因為托福正式考時間為 9:00 開始，所以讓頭腦去記憶特定時間該做的事，並且寫完一回一定要徹底檢討。
